The South Lake community came together to celebrate a significant milestone as Uday Kadam and the Guru Indian Restaurant team marked their 10th anniversary. The celebration featured a South Lake Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony and a festive party attended by over 100 guests.

Originally scheduled earlier in the year, the event faced repeated delays due to two hurricanes. However, the wait was worth it as owner and Master Chef Uday Kadam personally welcomed guests to a lively gathering filled with holiday cheer, gourmet cuisine, and elegant entertainment.

Attendees enjoyed complimentary Indian appetizers, entrées, desserts, and beverages amidst festive decorations and twinkling lights. The soothing melodies of a violinist added a touch of sophistication to the evening. The event was a collaborative success with the support of the South Lake Chamber of Commerce (SLCC) members who greeted a diverse crowd of business owners, loyal clients, friends, family, and local dignitaries.

A Decade of Excellence
Guru Indian Restaurant, founded in 2014 by Uday Kadam in Clermont, has become a cornerstone of fine dining in South Lake County. With over 40 years of culinary expertise, Kadam envisioned bringing the authentic flavors of Indian cuisine to the local community. His vision has been embraced by the region, evident in the loyal clientele who continue to savor his gourmet offerings.

Reflecting on his journey, Kadam shared, “Many of our loyal long-term guests tell us they first tried Indian cuisine here and ‘loved it’ … so they keep coming back!”

A Gourmet Dining Experience
Guru Indian Restaurant is known for its warm hospitality and customizable dishes to suit various spice preferences, from mild to extra spicy. Every meal begins with a complimentary serving of Pappadam chips accompanied by onion and sweet mango chutneys. The extensive menu includes 17 vegetarian options, eight vegan dishes, and freshly baked naan bread from traditional clay ovens. Refreshing Mango Lassi smoothies are a perennial favorite.

Accolades and Legacy
Over the past decade, Kadam’s dedication to quality and authenticity has earned numerous accolades. These include the 2024 Best Restaurant Entrée award at the South Lake Chamber’s Taste of South Lake event and the Best Indian Restaurant title from the Orlando Sentinel People’s Choice Awards.

Kadam’s culinary journey began in a small village 300 miles south of Mumbai, India. Inspired by his time working at the prestigious Taj Mahal Hotel in Bombay, Kadam honed his craft under the mentorship of renowned chefs. His career led him to managerial roles in the Middle East and the United States, including as Food and Beverage Manager at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, before establishing his own restaurants.

Adorned with vibrant Indian décor and fresh roses, Guru Indian Restaurant offers both indoor and covered outdoor seating, ideal for hosting festive gatherings like the recent anniversary celebration.
