Don’t wait for the next storm to start preparing. With September marking Florida Preparedness Month, the Lake County Office of Emergency Management is encouraging residents to take simple steps now to prepare for storms, flooding, and potential power outages.
To help residents prepare, the Lake County Office of Emergency Management released a new video highlighting what every household should have in an emergency kit and why preparing before a storm is critical.
The video encourages residents to plan for at least seven days of supplies, including water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, and more. Residents are also reminded to plan for their household’s unique needs, including children, seniors, individuals with special needs, and pets.
“You can build your kit over time; it doesn’t have to be immediate” said Megan Milanese, Office of Emergency Management Director. “Now is the time to start getting prepared.”
