Halloween enthusiasts, runners, walkers and community supporters are invited to lace up their running shoes and break out their best costumes for the Annual Monster Dash 5K/10K at Lake-Sumter State College on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026.
The popular Halloween-themed event offers participants a chance to enjoy a scenic course around Silver Lake while supporting Lake-Sumter State College students and important College initiatives. Whether racing for a personal best, taking a leisurely walk, or simply cheering from the sidelines, attendees can expect a morning filled with fun, fitness and community spirit.
Race day registration opens at 6:30 am, with the race beginning at 8 am on the College’s Leesburg Campus. The course starts on College Drive and winds around picturesque Silver Lake.
Participants who register will receive an event T-shirt and commemorative medal, with shirts and medals guaranteed for those who register on or before Oct. 16, 2026.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, participants are encouraged to show off their Halloween creativity. Trophies will be awarded to the top three overall costume entries, making the Monster Dash as much a costume celebration as it is a race.
Proceeds from the event directly benefit Lake-Sumter State College students and College programs, helping advance educational opportunities throughout the community.
Community members who are not planning to run or walk can still get involved by volunteering to assist with race-day activities. Registration is now open, and organizers encourage participants to secure their spot early for one of the area’s most anticipated Halloween events.
