Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is collecting donations to be transported to the panhandle this Wednesday. They will continue to accept donations after Wednesday and will make a second delivery in roughly a week. If the donations continue, LCSO will ensure they get to those in need. Donations can be dropped off at their main office at 360 W Ruby St, Tavares.
Jackson County is a very rural county with few resources located North of Tallahassee. Currently, there are expectations of a month of no power restoration in the area. Jackson County and their LEO city agencies are in need of chainsaws, chainsaw chains, chainsaw bars, chain files, bar oil, gas cans, 50:1 oil and generators. The generators are intended to be used specifically for the elderly.
Additionally, paper towels, bread, cereal, diapers, baby wipes, hygiene items, women products, soap, cat and dog food, shaving cream razors, 5 gal plastic gas cans, can foods that don’t need a can opener, manual can openers, canned meat, latex gloves, tarps, water, baby formula, socks, shoes (sneakers), 5 gallon buckets, rags, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, no shower shampoo, hair brushes, air mattresses, blankets, pillows, sterno cans, coolers, and tarps of all sizes.
