Faith Neighborhood Center (FNC) was founded in 1972 and has been in continuous operation since opening. They provide support to low-income families and individuals in South Lake County. In 2018 alone this organization served more than 12,000 families, 4,000 seniors, 20,000 children, and 43,000 individuals. This amounts to more than 730,000 pounds of food distributed last year.
FNC is happy to announce its new program, the Family Stabilization Program, which is aimed at assisting the Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE)… those among us who are working, but due to childcare costs, transportation challenges, high cost of living and so much more are living paycheck to paycheck. The program is aimed at temporarily assisting these families when an emergency happens causing a temporary financial strain.
Households in need can sign up at FAITH Neighborhood Center for a period of up to 6 months. The program will allow them to receive groceries from the pantry twice a month and weekly pickups of more perishable bread and produce.
A monthly food allocation of approximately $250 will help these households get through their crisis or emergency. The goal is to provide added financial knowledge through classes and counseling to help them improve their long-term stability. “The families being helped through the Family Stabilization Program are typically hard-working families” stated Patricia Kry, Executive Director of FNC. “They fall through the safety net due to making a little bit too much. This program is aimed at providing help and hope to families that are often denied assistance during a crisis.”
The ALICE program income guidelines are listed below. The client also agrees to attend to financial classes and establish a savings account.
