If you have ever wondered what it takes to work the polls on Election Day, here is your opportunity to find out. The Lake County Supervisor of Elections Office will be hosting several information sessions over the next several months that outline the eligibility criteria, as well as provide an overview of what is expected of workers during an election season. These information sessions are the first step in the process of becoming an election worker.
Sessions will be held at 10 am and 2 pm at the following locations and dates: Friday, November 15, at the Lake County Supervisor of Elections office located at 1898 East Burleigh Boulevard in Tavares; at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center, located at 3700 S. Highway 27 in Clermont on Friday, December 20, 2019; and on Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Lady Lake Library located at 225 W. Guava St., Room 207 in Lady Lake. Sessions last about an hour, and election worker applications may be completed at the end of the presentation. “With the upcoming 2020 elections, we will be needing a full roster of folks to ensure adequate coverage at the polling sites,” stated Hays. “We are continuously recruiting qualified individuals to serve,” shared Hays. Becoming an election worker is an opportunity to show your civic pride and ensure voters have a positive election experience. If you are interested in becoming an election worker but are unable to attend one of the sessions, you may complete an interest form online at their website as well.
