Candidates for Lake County Water Authority Advisory Board ( District 1 )
Marty Proctor has lived for over 30 years on Lake Emma near Groveland. He is actively working to influence local city and county politicians. The goals of that influence are to protect our surface waterways and groundwater. Protecting waterways while improving passive use of public access by enhancing parks and preventing water pollution. The Palatlakaha Creek watershed where I live includes all the lakes in the Clermont chain from Louisa to Emma. The entire watershed is designated an Outstanding Florida Waterway, the highest level of protection granted by the State of Florida. Every lake in south Lake County is a fragile treasure needing protection and a voice. The most specific voice available is being a member of the Lake County Water Authority advisory board.
Population growth seems inevitable here in south Lake. The impact on waterways from growth can be minimized. The work is done at the comprehensive plan, land use, and development definition phases long before any houses or businesses get built. Few people understand the dynamics, process, and language of water management. As an engineer living and working in water-friendly south Lake county, Marty has learned the language of water and growth. He has the willingness to work on those seemingly invisible parts of the growth management process.
