It's going to be cold tonight.

With temperatures expected to drop this evening, two Lake County churches are opening their doors to those vulnerable to the cold weather.  LifePointe Church, located at 3551 E. Orange Ave., Eustis, and Trinity Assembly of God, 200 Urick St., Fruitland Park will open for sheltering on Tuesday, March 5 from 5:30 pm to Wednesday, March 6 at 7 am.  Lake County Transit will offer transportation at 5:30 pm from the following two locations:

  • Transportation to Lifepointe – The Open Door, 115 E. Citrus Ave, Eustis.
  • Transportation to Trinity Assembly of God – Come As you Are Ministry, 1344 Griffin Road, Leesburg.

If you are unable to get to one of the shelters indicated, contact a local church for help.    Pets get cold too. Be sure your pets have a warm place to stay for the night.

Those citizens requesting transportation from another location should call 352-742-2612 before 5 pm.  Once the shelters close Wednesday morning, residents can be taken to the following warming stations via the transit division.

    • The Open Door located at 115 East Citrus Avenue, Eustis.  Doors open at 9:00 am
    • The Salvation Army located at 2605 South Street, Leesburg.  Doors open at 8 am
