Shake off your summer vacation boredom blues and behold a live bald eagle! The Avian Reconditioning Center’s FREE “Birds of Prey” show comes to the Minneola City Hall Gym, located at 800 US-Hwy 27 on Friday, June 28 at 11 am.
The Avian Reconditioning Center, or ARC, is a bird of prey rehabilitation and education facility located in Apopka, Florida. They are dedicated to raptor rehabilitation, education and research, thereby increasing public awareness, knowledge and appreciation of Florida’s magnificent raptors and the natural habitats in which they live.
ARC is open to the public on Saturdays 10 am until 1 pm (Closed in August). They invite you to stop by for a personal encounter with their resident eagles, hawks, falcons, kites and owls. They offer wildlife programs to schools, scout troops, church groups, civic organizations, retirement centers, and other non-profits. ARC is a volunteer-driven, 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. They receive no state or federal funding and 100% of donations go to bird care. Program fees help to keep the doors open, help care for injured raptors, and to educate the public.
Birds of prey make wonderful study subjects for a variety of reasons. They have found that birds of prey are excellent ambassadors for teaching a variety of subjects including natural history, biology, conservation, and photography.
This program is FREE for all ages thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Minneola Schoolhouse Library, located at 100 South Main Avenue, Minneola.
