City residents are invited to apply to the new and improved Clermont Citizens Academy (CCA). The CCA is a free, 7-week, civics educational program that provides the opportunity to explore various departments for a better understanding of how the City operates to efficiently provide the many necessary services.

Each week, students will meet with directors and staff from featured departments who will explain what their department does, how work gets done and how challenges are handled Students are encouraged to ask questions and many departments will provide tours and
demonstrations.

“Clermont residents have historically been very interested in learning more about how their City runs,” City Manager Brian Bulthuis said. “This type of program is often the first step for residents who are interested in becoming part of local government. We are really happy to
bring back this popular program.”

To ensure a positive experience for everyone, the program is limited to the first 25 applicants who are at least 18 years old with confirmed residency within the Clermont city limits and who can commit to attending at least six of the seven classes.

Additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list for the next academy. The program will be held on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning March 23 and wrapping
up with a graduation celebration on May 4.

Please understand, a Clermont mailing address does not confirm your eligibility. If you are interested in the program, please call 352-394-4081 to check your residency.
