Frank Stanfield, a journalist in the Lake County/Orlando area for more than 40 years, will be the speaker at the May meeting of the South Lake County Historical Society. The meeting will be held on Monday, May 13th in the Train Depot at Clermont’s Historic Village which is located at 490 West Ave., Clermont. The board meeting will begin at 6:00 pm and Mr. Stanfield’s presentation will start immediately after at 7:00 pm
Forty years is a long time but Mr. Stanfield has filled those years with a wide variety of experiences as a reporter, editor, author, and even television personality. He has worked for the Orlando Sentinel and is currently a correspondent with the Daily Commercial. He is the author of two books dealing with stories he covered in Lake County, “Vampires, Gators and Wackos, A Newspaperman’s Life,” and “Unbroken: The Dorothy Lewis Story.” Most recently, he appeared on the Oxygen channel to discuss one of his books. For a brief period, he even tried his hand at being a middle school English teacher! He accomplished all this after serving our country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
